2009-2010 Men's Winter Practice & Tourney Schedule
  
  • Age groups are determined by current GRADE LEVEL in school
  • Season: November 30th-February 7th; *There will be practice the week of Feb 8th-11th for those players selected to travel to the WinterFest in Southern CA- practice times and location TBD.
  • Winter Break Holidays- Monday, December 21st-Friday, January 1st- NO PRACTICE.

Winter Program Age Group Descriptions:
            The winter program is based on grade level (with exception to 10U). Read below to determine which group is most appropriate for your needs. All athletes must have 2010 United States Water Polo Membership. Please sign up via www.usawaterpolo.com  Individuals have to sign up for silver membership or Gold if they plan on attending the National Junior Olympics July 31-August 3.
 
High School 1 & 2: 
  1. Sign up for HS 2
  2. HS 1: Select group of 15-20 athletes from HS 2 group.
  3. Slots determined based on tryouts on December 1, 3 & 8 (6-8:45pm).
  4. Tryouts for HS 1 and HS 2 members only.
  5. Cost: $525. All HS 1 & 2 athletes will have the option to attend Winter Fest in Los Alamitos/Long Beach on February 12-14. HS 2 may enter in lower division but we will enter anyone in this group that wants to attend! Extra charges will apply.
  6. HS 1 will participate in winter league open tournaments and/or 12th.
  7. HS 2 will participate in winter league 12th or 10th grade tournaments.
    1. Winter League Dates: December 19-20, January 9-10, January 30-31, and Feb 6-7
  8. Practice:
    1. Tuesday/Thursdays 6pm-8:45pm (tryouts) at Dougherty Valley HS
    2. Beginning Thurs December 10th – HS 1 practices run from 6pm-8pm and HS 2 practices start at 7pm and conclude at 9pm.
    3. Conditioning: practice at Del Amigo. Run daily from 3:45-5:15pm M-F. 
                                                               i.      HS 1 must make 2 conditioning & 2 polo practices per week
                                                             ii.      HS 2 should attend at least 1 conditioning practice per week & both polo practices.
                                                            iii.      HS 1 athletes that do not meet practice requirements will be moved to HS 2. This will be assessed weekly. Corey Dolley & Skip Mann both must be notified via email if practice requirements aren’t met. coreydolley@hotmail.com and stevedmann2@yahoo.com
 
High School 3
  1. Register for HS 3. Brand new option to encourage all HS athletes to play club.
  2. Cost: $325
  3. Practices are held M/W from 7-9pm at Dougherty Valley High School or at the Pleasanton Aquatic Facility (player choice) from 7:30-9pm on T/Th. Pleasanton site will be used if numbers dictate a necessity. Please attend first week at DVHS.
  4. No tryouts. More scrimmage time. No travel tournaments. No conditioning at Del Amigo.
  5. B level 12th grade and 10th grade tournaments. 
  6. Scimmages held Dec. 20, Jan. 10, Jan. 31, and Feb. 7th 
 
 
7th- 8th Grade Boys- Junior High School Program (JHS) 
  1. Register for 7th-8th Grade Boys and Under
  2. Cost: $325
  3. All Practices are held M/W from 6-8pm (JHS2) or 7-9pm (JHS1) at Dougherty Valley HS
  4. First week will be evaluation process everyone attends at 6pm.  Groups will be formed into: Junior High School 1 (JHS1) and Junior High School 2 (JHS2)
  5. Beginning Dec 7 JHS 2 will go from 6-8pm. JHS 1 will be from 7-9pm.
  6. Conditioning option at Del Amigo in Danville T/TH 5-6:30pm- sign up for Age Group Conditioing Program 
  7. Winter League Dates for all JHS athletes:
a.                   Winter League Dates: December 19-20, January 9-10, January 30-31, and Feb 6-7

  1. A Select Group of Athletes will be considered for Winter Fest on Feb 12-14 in Los Alamitos.   Extra charges will apply.                                                               
 
4th- 6th Grade Boys:
1.      Register for 4th-6th Grade Boys and Under Program
2.      Cost: $275
3.      Practices at Del Amigo M/W 6:30-8:15pm
4.      If we have a large group we have the option to run T/TH practices. 6:30-8:15pm
5.      Conditioning option at Del Amigo in Danville T/TH 5-6:30pm-sign up for Age Group Conditioing Program 
6.      Winter League Dates for all 4th-6th Grade athletes:
a.             Winter League Dates: December 19-20, January 9-10, January 30-31, and Feb 6-7
7.      A Select Group of Athletes will be considered for Winter Fest on Feb 12-14 in Los Alamitos. Extra charges will apply.
 
3-Week Intro Clinic
1.      6 practices. Coed. Primarily aimed towards 2nd - 5th grade group. Older athletes are welcome but encouraged to participate in the age group programs.
2.      Site: Del Amigo in Danville
3.      Practice: M/W 5:15-6:30pm November 30, December 3, 7, 9, 14 & 16.
4.      Cost: $75.
5.      No United States Water Polo Membership Needed.
 
10 Under Coed Program
1.      Register for 10U Coed. Born in 2000, 2001 or 2002.
2.      Begins January 4 and run through March 17. Practice M/W 5:15-6:30pm.
a.  Location in Feb & March to be announced.
3.      Site: Del Amigo Pool in Danville. 
4.      Cost: $250
5.      Winter Leauge Dates for all 10 Under Coed athletes:
a. Winter League Dates: January 9-10, January 30-31, and Feb 6-7
6.      Orange County Cup. March 19-21. Irvine. Approx. 15 athletes to attend. If we have 26 then we could take a second team. Extra Costs apply.
7.      Must have United States Water Polo Membership to participate in tournaments.
